Walt Whitman Field Hockey co-captain Maya Herm, a three-year varsity starter, has been named by US Field Hockey to its Futures Elite program.
The program taps the top 150 players from around the country who participate in US Field Hockey’s Futures program, a first stop on the Olympic development pipeline. Herm is one of a handful of players from the Washington area to be selected for the program, based on her performance in the Futures program and the National Futures Tournament, held last June in Virginia Beach.
“It means a lot,” said Herm, who has already committed to play at Dartmouth College. “It’s a lot of hard work that’s paid off.”
Entering Wednesday’s game against Walter Johnson, Herm led the Vikings (7-5) with 12 goals and four assists.
